City of Broken Arrow Alert Neighbors
WOLF CREEK ALERT NEIGHBORS PROGRAM
Protecting your home from crooks isn't rocket science-it's paying attention to common sense prevention we all know, but sometimes overlook.
Here are some things to do and things to watch for:
- BE NOSEY! Your neighbors won't mind you peeking out your window when you hear car doors slam or see activity.
- Take note of suspicious activities or persons. Trust your instincts
- Pay attention to details - observe people, cars, clothing, and weapons
- If you see a burglary, or any suspicious activity taking place, call 911. It only takes moments for a problem to turn into a crime in progress!
- When you call the police, answer all the questions to the best of your ability. Information you think is unimportant could actually turn out to be key in stopping or solving a crime.
- Remain on the line to provide additional details, or to guide officers to the scene.
OTHER THINGS TO WATCH FOR:
- Strangers entering a neighbor's home alone
- Door-to-door solicitors who either attempt entry or walk around to the back yard, or who have a car following close by.
- Repair or utility crew without a recognizable company name, logo or number on the service truck.
- Unfamiliar vehicle cruising or idling at a school bus stop.
- Unusual noises; e.g. a scream, breaking glass, gunshot, or explosion.

IT'S 10 O'CLOCK! DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR CHILDREN ARE?
Some of your may remember this public service slogan from the late '60's and early '70's. All three of the network affiliate TV stations opened their evening newscasts with this simple question.
PARENTS, IT'S 10 O'CLOCK-DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR CHILDREN ARE, AND WHAT THEY'RE DOING?
Here it is plain and simple-If you are a parent, you are responsible for the actions of your children! No excuses! There is no such thing as no-fault parenting. But there is such a thing as the word, "NO."
Every Wolf Creek resident has the responsibility to keep his/her child/children in check, and every resident has the responsibility of reporting any activity that is criminal in nature. That's why a revitalized Wolf Creek Alert Neighbors program is so vitally important to our neighborhood.
If we all do our part, we can keep mischief and criminal intent to a minimum, and make Wolf Creek a better, safer place to live.
Let's make Wolf Creek a "No Crime Tolerance" neighborhood!

HOW TO STOP DANGEROUS DOG ATTACKS!
IT’S TIME TO PROTECT YOUR FAMILY AND PET FROM DANGEROUS DOG ATTACKS
For the past two years, two Pitbull dogs have terrorized Wolf Creek, threatening children and adults, and seriously injuring other pets. This has been publicized in previous issues of the Wolf Creek Leader, but the owner of those dogs has been less than forthcoming about his responsibility.
The BA Animal Control officers had tried their best to capture the dogs, but armed only with a stick and a hook on the end, they are no match for these dangerous animals.
HERE’S HOW TO FIGHT BACK!
If you, a member of your family or a family pet are victims of an attack, you do have recourse. The City of Broken Arrow Animal Control office offers these steps:
· Call Animal Control at 259-8311 to report the problem. An officer will come to your home and have you complete a “Witness Report.” You must know the violator-owner’s address.
· The violator will receive a court summons, and based on the facts, a judge will provide a verdict.
· The verdict could bring a fine and require that the animals be taken away.
A second option is to call Animal Control if the dogs are running loose, and ask them to set traps. When the offending dog is caught Animal Control will impound it at a rate of $20/day with an additional $20 pick-up fee. Animal Control can issue a citation of $104 which the owner must pay to the City of Broken Arrow—just like a speeding ticket.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION, THE DOGS WERE LAST SEEN AT 2811 W Canton Place. If you see them call animal control immediately.

WATCHING YOU!
Meet Hazel Ronne, our newest WCHA Alert Neighbors volunteer. Hazel says everyone needs to get involved in making Wolf Creek a better, safer neighborhood. That’s why at nearly 90 years of age, she decided to get involved.
Attention Crooks:
Don’t Mess With Hazel!
She’s bright, alert, and keeps a sharp look-out for what’s going on in her part of Wolf Creek. So Attention crooks: Don’t mess with Hazel. She’s watching you. Hazel called recently to say she wanted to do her part to help keep Wolf Creek the safe neighborhood it is known for.
Hazel has found a way to serve others most of her life, beginning with her choice of a career. After graduation from the Hillcrest School of Nursing, she was assigned to Germany for duty as an RN during WWII. While in Europe, she had an occasion to visit several countries and widen her experience and understanding of post world-war diplomacy.
Back in the United States, she worked as a medical professional, and later joined American Airlines where she served as an RN for 26 years. Today Hazel, who turns 90 on her next birthday, regularly hosts luncheons for women’s groups in her home, and collects Hummel figurines and Frankhoma pottery as a hobby. “I’m not timid about mentioning my age. After all, I’ve been blessed with long life and good health, for which I am thankful to God.”
That’s Hazel’s story—What’s Yours? We’d bet that she could give you more than a few reasons why you too, should volunteer. Give us a call TODAY at 527-6386 to find out where you can plug in!
